Two years ago, Dan Quinn was hailed as the early frontrunner for the New York Jets' head-coaching job. Now he's preparing the Falcons for Super Bowl LI and the Jets are digging out from a 5-11 disaster, prompting the question:
Did they pick the wrong guy, opting for Todd Bowles over Quinn?
It's easy to say yes, considering the current circumstances, but that would be a short-sighted conclusion. Was anybody squawking about this last year, when Bowles was 10-6 and Quinn was 8-8, having lost seven of his last nine games? Of course not.
Quinn has done a terrific job in his second season, transforming the Falcons from a two-man show (Matt Ryan and Julio Jones) into NFC champions.
