The U.S. men’s national soccer team has given the Jets’ new kicker the boot.
Recent waiver claim Kaare Vedvik has never kicked at MetLife Stadium, so the Jets had hoped to get him there for a few kicks to acclimate himself on Friday afternoon. But the venue is unavailable — with the playing surface temporarily altered from turf to grass — due to Friday night’s scheduled soccer friendly between the U.S. and Mexico.
“We were going to try actually tomorrow, but they have a bunch of grass down,” special teams coach Brant Boyer said after Thursday’s practice in Florham Park.
