The highlight of Jets training camp so far came Wednesday, when the team practiced short-yardage and goal-line situations. That meant actual tackling, a rarity in NFL practices, and it meant running back Chris Ivory doing what he does best — breaking tackles.
Ivory ran through the vaunted Jets defense, delivering hits as hard as he took them and then showing some speed at the goal line when he bounced one outside.
It was a display that made you think this Jets’ running game might be really good.
Besides Ivory, the Jets also have Stevan Ridley, Bilal Powell, Zac Stacy and Daryl Richardson fighting for carries.
