It was the night before last Christmas, and all through the house, not a creature was stirring … not even Ryan Fitzpatrick.
Eleven days before Christmas 2014, Fitzpatrick fractured his left leg on a second-quarter scramble at Lucas Oil Stadium, and a dream that he had finally found a home in Houston at his fifth NFL stop had been broken along with it.
“We had a two-story house — so our bedroom, it was upstairs — so I was sleeping on a pullout couch downstairs, ’cause I couldn’t really make it upstairs fresh off the surgery, and was in and out, a lot of pain meds, groggy … it was miserable,” Fitzpatrick told The Post.
