Saturday afternoon, C.J. Mosley shocked the New York Jets and their fans by opting-out of the 2020 season. The star linebacker was expected to be the captain of the Jets’ defense and help lead a unit that ranked 10th in DVOA in 2019.
With him gone, Gregg Williams‘s job becomes that much more difficult. Williams is considered one of the best defensive coordinators in the NFL for a reason. He hasn’t coached a defense to a below-average DVOA since 2011. No matter what happens, he always seems to find a way to put a competitive defense on the field.
