Signs of the Jets’ growth go beyond Sam Darnold

When the Jets’ work was done on Sunday, their eventful-and-significant 42-34 victory over the Colts officially marked in ink in the standings at 3-3, coach Todd Bowles gathered his players together inside the locker room in the bowels of MetLife Stadium and he told them this:

“We would have lost this game last year.’’

This game indeed had taken on the look of a handful of the Jets’ 11 losses in 2017, games in which they played just well enough to build leads and then just poorly enough to give them away.

There were four games last season the Jets blatantly failed to close.
