Sam Darnold’s illness has turned into a serious Jets problem.
Coach Adam Gase announced on Thursday that Darnold would miss Monday’s game against the Browns with mono, and could possibly be out multiple games. The Jets and Darnold had grown concerned as he lost about five pounds over the past few days.
Veteran Trevor Siemian will get the start against Cleveland.
The Jets play at the Patriots in Week 3 and then have a bye in Week 4.
