Reports: Matt Flynn Takes Physical With Jets, Doesn’t Work Out

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — The New York Jets are bringing in quarterback Matt Flynn for a workout on Friday, according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport.

Without Geno Smith for six to 10 weeks, the Jets could use a veteran behind presumptive Week 1 starter Ryan Fitzpatrick. Rookie Bryce Petty is a project, and showed as much going 10 of 18 for 50 yards in Thursday’s 23-3 preseason loss to the Detroit Lions.

Fitzpatrick was 2 of 3 for 16 yards, leading New York to a field goal in his only drive of the night.
