Release of Cornerback Darryl Roberts Easy Decision for Gang Green

The Jets yesterday released cornerback Darryl Roberts in order to free up $6 million in salary cap space without any lingering cap hits for the opening day starter in 2019.

The #Jets announce that they have released CB Darryl Roberts. That saves them $6 million – his entire salary due this season – on the salary cap.

Even with the cupboard being bare at cornerback, Roberts simply didn’t pick up where he left off in 2018 when he had his best stretch as a pro, grading out as one of the league’s better corners according to pro football focus, before being moved to safety to close out the season.
