Prosecutor plans to drop gun charge against ex-Jet Goodson

MORRISTOWN — A prosecutor said Wednesday he expects to dismiss a gun-possession charge against former New York Jets running back Mike Goodson, after Goodson's co-defendant pleaded guilty in the case and admitted the .45 caliber Taurus handgun was his.

The co-defendant, Garant Evans, 33, of Elizabeth, pleaded guilty in Superior Court in Morristown to possession of a weapon and said Goodson did not know a gun was in the car when police searched their vehicle on May 17, 2013.

The plea appeared likely to end a long saga that contributed to putting Goodson's football career on hold for more than a year.
