New York Jets 2019: Ranking the 53-man roster — #49 Chuma Edoga

The New York Jets selected quarterback Sam Darnold‘s USC offensive tackle Chuma Edoga as the 92nd pick in the third round of this year’s draft. The four-year starting two-time All-Pac 12 lineman who excelled at the Senior Bowl was considered a raw, long-term project.

The team’s plan was to sit him for the 2019 season, but he got forced into action in Week 5 due to the offensive state of this offensive line.

Edoga has started Gang Green games at both left and right tackle. He got brutalized replacing injured left tackle Kelvin Beachum (who he was coincidentally compared to in pre-draft scouting reports).
