There have been times when Muhammad Wilkerson's recovery from a hamstring injury has seemed painstakingly deliberate. Come Saturday, though, the defensive end could be ready to make one big leap on that injured tendon of his.
Jets coach Todd Bowles said that Wilkerson, who Sunday night practiced for only the third time since injuring his hamstring Aug. 2, would play against the Giants, barring any more setbacks. Bowles added that he hoped Wilkerson could play with the starters.
"He's feeling a lot better," Bowles said. "He's moving pretty good. We're bringing him along slowly."
Wilkerson did some moderate work Sunday night -- he participated in a few position drills, played a handful of reps with the second-team defense, and didn't look worse for wear when he chased a scrambling Bryce Petty out of the pocket.
