Rookie Leonard Williams has a muscle strain behind his knee, but it is not expected to be a long-term injury. There was no ligament damage found.

Williams left Saturday’s 28-18 preseason win over the Giants in the first half with a knee injury, causing momentary panic among the fan base. X-rays were negative on Saturday night, but defensive end had to undergo an MRI on Sunday. Luckily for the Jets, it looks like they dodged a bullet.

When he was drafted, the first-round pick was was originally expected to be a rotational player to begin with, but now Williams is slated to open the season as a starter with Sheldon Richardson suspended for at least four games.
