Mehta: Jets' Geno Smith needs to let actions do talking

Nothing will ever reach the nauseating levels of Deflategate, but the punch heard ’round the NFL from the Jets locker room last month has definitely entered the annoying stage.

Geno Smith broke his month-long silence Monday after scrub-turned-household name IK Enemkpali broke his jaw over a matter of 600 bucks. The details are murky less than a week before the start of the season, but Smith’s first public speaking engagement since the ugly incident prompted fair queries that went unanswered.

“I just want to move on,” said the backup quarterback who wore a helmet and participated in positional drills in practice for the first time since undergoing surgery nearly four weeks ago.
