The Jets on Monday waived wide receiver/return man Jeremy Kerley rather than activating him. The Jets' one-week roster exemption for Kerley expired at 4 p.m. Monday.
Kerley was eligible to return from a four-game suspension (performance-enhancing drugs), but the Jets opted to get rid of him instead.
Kerley was going to be a free agent in the offseason anyway, and the Jets seemed unlikely to keep him. They signed him to a one-year contract before this season.
This was Kerley's second stint with the Jets. He began his career with them from 2011-15, after they drafted him in Round 5.
