Jets trade for N.J. long snapper, so could Tanner Purdum be on way out?

Jets on Monday traded safety Ronald Martin (a roster bubble guy) to the Colts in exchange for long snapper Thomas Hennessy, who played at Don Bosco Prep and is from Bardonia, New York, in Rockland County.

Could this signal the end of long snapper Tanner Purdum's Jets career? Or perhaps the Jets just want to keep Purdum healthy, and sit him during Thursday's preseason finale against the Eagles. It's more likely, though, that Hennessy is some last-minute competition for Purdum.

Purdum, 33, has been with the Jets since 2010. He is their longest-tenured player, having spent seven seasons with the organization.
