Jets take flier on ex-Raiders tight end

The Jets claimed tight end Clive Walford off waivers from the Raiders on Monday.

Walford was a third-round pick in 2015 by Oakland. The 26-year-old had 33 catches for 359 yards and three touchdowns two years ago. He dropped off last year, though, catching just nine passes for 80 yards and no touchdowns. New coach Jon Gruden dumped him Friday as part of his housecleaning.

The Jets need help at tight end after losing Austin Seferian-Jenkins in free agency to the Jaguars. They currently have Jordan Leggett, Eric Tomlinson and Neal Sterling at the position to go with Walford.
