Jets release Will Tye, creating likely spot for Jalin Marshall

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Five tight ends is too many, and one of them had to go. That one is Will Tye, who was waived Tuesday by the New York Jets.

Tye was inactive Sunday in the overtime win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, so his ouster doesn't come as a surprise. The Jets have Austin Seferian-Jenkins, Eric Tomlinson, Neal Sterling and rookie Jordan Leggett, who is battling a knee injury.

The Jets could use the roster spot for wide receiver Jalin Marshall, who is eligible to return from a four-game suspension.
