FLORHAM PARK -- The Jets placed outside linebacker Lorenzo Mauldin on the injured reserve with a neck injury. To take his place on the 53-man roster, they re-signed inside linebacker Bruce Carter, whom they waived on Sunday.
With Mauldin, 24, on the injured reserve now, he qualifies to return later in the season. If he heals, he can begin practicing with the Jets after Week 6. The Jets can bring him off the injured reserve and on to the 53-man roster after Week 8. Once they do, they'll need to free one roster spot.
