The New York Jets announced Wednesday that they’ve placed rookie CB Xavier Coleman (shoulder) on injured reserve and re-signed TE Neal Sterling.

Coleman, 22, signed on with the Jets as an undrafted free agent out of Portland State back in May. New York decided to waive him as they trimmed their roster down to the 53-man limit and signed him to their practice squad once he cleared waivers.

The Jets promoted Coleman to their active roster a few weeks ago.

During his four-year college career, Coleman recorded 123 tackles, 27 pass defenses, started 24 straight games and earned second-team All-Big Sky honors in 2015.
