As the Jets prepare for their second preseason game, Thursday at Washington, they announced Wednesday that they placed backup offensive tackle Ben Ijalana (shoulder) on season-ending injured reserve and signed center/guard Gino Gradkowski.
Ijalana sustained a shoulder injury during joint practices with Washington this week in Richmond, Va. He had been the Jets' backup left tackle, though Brent Qvale was getting most of the work at that spot -- in place of the injured Kelvin Beachum -- even before Ijalana's injury.
Ijalana and Qvale both apparently have the ability to play both tackle spots.
