Jets' Lorenzo Mauldin has injury setback | Will he play in 2017?

FLORHAM PARK -- Lorenzo Mauldin's season is likely over.

The linebacker's injured back, which Jets coach Todd Bowles confirmed Thursday is a herniated disk, took a turn for the worse this week. Mauldin will get a second opinion, but doctors advised season-ending surgery.

"His back got significantly worse," Bowles said. "It was up and down with him. It took a turn for the worse."

Surgery isn't confirmed yet. The Jets will decide that after the second opinion. Mauldin is currently on the injured reserve. The Jets were hopeful he'd return later in the season, but it doesn't look like that will happen.
