Jets’ Jace Amaro out for year with shoulder tear: Thanks, Idzik!

The hits keep coming for John Idzik’s draft classes.

Tight end Jace Amaro needs surgery on his left shoulder and will be placed on season-ending injured reserve, coach Todd Bowles announced Tuesday.

Amaro, drafted by Idzik in the second round in 2014 out of Texas Tech, has a torn labrum. The Jets previously had been calling it a sprain since he suffered the injury in the team’s first preseason game.

Amaro had 38 receptions for 345 yards and two touchdowns during a mostly disappointing rookie year, and he made headlines in the offseason for engaging in a war of words with former coach Rex Ryan.
