Jets get to hog spotlight like this about once per generation

This is a Giants town.

It was a Giants town in 1964, when the boys in blue went 1-12-1, and in 1973 and ’74, when they went 4-23-1, and in 1983 when they were 3-12-1. It was a Giants town in 1968 and ‘69, when the Jets went 11-3 and then 10-4 and won a Super Bowl and a Yale Bowl showdown in between, and when Joe Namath was the most talked-about athlete in American sports.

It was a Giants town in 1998, when Bill Parcells took the Jets from a 1-15 mess to the AFC title game within two years.
