There was a brief moment last Thursday in which the Jets fan base collectively felt a sickening case of deja vu. Reports surfaced that quarterback Justin Fields had been carted off the practice field with what was being described at the time as a possibly non-contact lower leg injury.
That phrase alone is enough to make any fan wince, especially after what happened to Aaron Rodgers just two years ago. But in a surprising and fortunate twist, the news that followed couldn’t have been much better.
It was soon reported that Fields had actually suffered a dislocated toe — not even his big toe — and he would soon return to the practice field for 7-on-7 drills this past Saturday.
