Looking to make room for their three recent additions via the waiver wire, the Jets have cut three players less than 24 hours after they were named to the 53-man roster.
Veteran wide receiver Tyler Johnson, linebacker Zaire Barnes and offensive lineman Marquis Hayes were all let go according to Rich Cimini of ESPN New York.
Letting go of Johnson leaves Gang Green with five wide receivers. Garrett Wilson, Josh Reynolds, Allen Lazard, Arian Smith and Xavier Gipson make up one of the league’s least accomplished wide receiver rooms.
While some may see this as cause for alarm, there is the fact that Aaron Glenn probably plans on running the football more than any team in the NFL this season, meaning fewer targets for the wideouts.
