Jets claim Kaare Vedvik, cut Taylor Bertolet in kicker shakeup

The Jets have a new kicker.

The team claimed Kaare Vedvik off of waivers from the Vikings, according to a source. Vedvik’s release was a big surprise since Minnesota traded a fifth-round pick to the Ravens for him two weeks ago. But Vedvik went 1-for-4 on field goals in two preseason games with the Vikings and they decided to cut him.

With Vedvik in the fold, the Jets cut Taylor Bertolet, who spent the final three weeks of the preseason as their kicker after Chandler Catanzaro retired.

Vedvik was one of four players new Jets general manager Joe Douglas claimed on Sunday.
