New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd offered his first public comments on Wednesday, delivering the kind of news everyone around the team had been hoping to hear.
Boyd, who was shot outside a Manhattan restaurant early Sunday morning and rushed into emergency surgery, shared an encouraging message from the hospital as he continues to recover.
His update came not long after head coach Aaron Glenn provided his own optimistic outlook. Glenn told reporters he spoke with Boyd shortly after the incident and described the defensive back as upbeat and in good spirits.
The first-year head coach said his immediate concern was for Boyd’s wife and newborn child, but he’s relieved and confident that Boyd is “going to come out of this really, really well.
