Jets bring back safety fixture after TE fails physical

The Jets are bringing back a familiar face.

The team signed safety Antonio Allen on Tuesday. The Jets originally took Allen in the seventh round of the 2012 draft. He played in 38 games over three seasons for the team, starting 18.

Allen tore an Achilles tendon in training camp last year and spent the season on injured reserve. The Jets let him leave as a free agent in March. He signed with the Texans, who cut him Saturday.

The Jets now have four safeties with Calvin Pryor, Marcus Gilchrist, Rontez Miles and Allen.

The 27-year-old only has one career interception, but it was a memorable one for Jets fans.
