The 2018 Jets Draft will be remembered and judged for just one pick — Sam Darnold.
The No. 3 overall pick will be a franchise-defining draft choice for potentially the next decade. The Jets traded away three second-round picks to move up in this draft and land their franchise quarterback. It is the boldest move the team has made since 2009 when they jumped to No. 5 to select Mark Sanchez.
The Sanchez selection is proof that it will take several years before we can properly evaluate the Darnold pick and this draft overall. Any Jets fan would have praised the Sanchez choice after his first two seasons and two trips to the AFC Championship.
