Jets add Big-Armed QB to Practice Squad, Move Safety to 53

The Jets made a couple of moves that won’t exactly send shockwaves throughout the NFL, or perhaps even their own locker room. But the additions of quarterback Hendon Hooker after promoting safety Jarius Monroe to the active roster is noteworthy. Hooker was signed to the practice squad earlier today while Monroe was added to the 53-man roster yesterday.

Adding Hooker gives the Jets a quarterback with a howitzer for an arm and plenty of experience against big time competition as a former Tennessee quarterback out of the SEC. The odds are stacked against Hooker when you look at his age (27) and lack of experience (9 career pass attempts), but the tools are intriguing.
