Jeremy Ruckert signs rookie contract while his dad leads ‘Jets’ chant

It’s been a while since the New York Jets have had a player who fans could look at and say, “Wow, he is one of us.”

Jeremy Ruckert is that guy.

The Ohio State tight end, selected 101st overall by New York in the fourth round of this year’s draft, was born and raised as a Jets fan in Lindenhurst, New York.

The man who made Jeremy a Jets fan – his father, Bill – has quickly become as much of a fan favorite as the 6-foot-5 tight end himself.

Bill became notorious among Jets fans for his ecstatic reaction when Jeremy was drafted, leading a “J-E-T-S” chant among family members in the Ruckert house.
