Jamal Adams’ tackle sent Patriots’ mascot to the hospital

Jamal Adams said he wanted to knock the mascot out, and then … he did it.

The Jets’ Pro Bowl safety stopped an autograph session Wednesday during the Skills Challenge to lay a tackle on New England mascot Pat Patriot, running full speed at the foam-rubber revolutionary who was getting booed by fans throughout the afternoon.

Despite the cheers stemming from the good-natured prank, the costume didn’t exactly absorb all of Adams’ ferocity, with Adams saying the person inside ended up in the hospital.

“[The mascot] was running around and everybody was booing him,” Adams told ESPN on Thursday.
