Former Jets center Nick Mangold, cut by the team last offseason, announced his retirement Tuesday, saying he will sign a one-day contract to retire as a member of the Jets.
Mangold had a fantastic, 11-year career. He spent all of it with the Jets. He was a seven-time Pro Bowler and two-time first-team All-Pro. He will wind up in the Jets' Ring of Honor for sure.
But is he a Hall of Famer? Probably not.
Consider that another ex-Jets center, Kevin Mawae, hasn't been able to crack the Hall of Fame yet.
