Is a former HC destined to join Aaron Glenn’s New York Jets staff?

When the New York Jets hired Aaron Glenn, many fans wanted the team to hire an experienced offensive mind to balance his head coaching inexperience.

The idea was sound, and it was appeased when New York hired Steve Wilks—a former head coach—to be its new defensive coordinator. Naturally, the next thought was obvious: It would be smart for the team to do something similar on the offensive side.

That didn’t happen.

Tanner Engstrand, a first-time play-caller, was brought in as the offensive coordinator. Despite the lack of experience on that side of the ball, specifically as it concerns Engstrand as an offensive coordinator, it doesn’t mean the Jets intentionally ruled out the possibility of veteran offensive coaches.
