Forget about the backup-quarterback controversy. The New York Jets have a right-tackle controversy.
They open the season in five days, and the Jets still are undecided on whether to start Ben Ijalana or Brent Qvale, according to Todd Bowles. They might take the unusual step of playing both on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals.
"Until it sorts itself out, yes," Bowles said Monday. "It's possible."
So the team with four quarterbacks on the roster (unconventional) is now contemplating a two-man rotation at an offensive-line position (unorthodox). Say this for the Jets: They're not afraid to go outside the box.
