FLORHAM PARK -- Last year was mostly a mess for Jets rookie punter Lachlan Edwards, whom they drafted in Round 7. Edwards, an Australian who had played just three seasons of American football before 2016, finished last in the NFL with 40.8 yards per punt.
But this year, through seven games, Edwards ranks 10th in the league, with 46.9 yards per punt. One big reason for his improvement: He worked in the offseason (and during training camp) with former NFL punter Darren Bennett, an Australian who successfully transitioned to American football, and who now lives in San Diego.
