Middle linebacker Jameel McClain, who had a serious neck injury three years ago but came back to lead the Giants in tackles last season, will be sidelined indefinitely with a new neck injury that he sustained in a training camp practice on Wednesday in East Rutherford, N.J.
Coach Tom Coughlin said Thursday that McClain was “going to have to sit for a while.”
Coughlin said McClain had sustained a stinger — a nerve injury that leaves a burning sensation in the neck or shoulders — after a collision in practice.
Late in the 2012 season, when he was playing for the Baltimore Ravens, McClain sustained a spinal cord contusion.
