Forgotten Jets QB castoff is now part of a Super Bowl team

HOUSTON — Nearly two years after getting kicked to the curb by the Jets, Matt Simms is at the Super Bowl.

Simms, the son of Giants legend Phil Simms, is on the Falcons practice squad, waiting for his chance while learning from Matt Ryan and Matt Schaub, the quarterbacks on the active roster.

“It’s cool to sit in the room and see how we dissect defenses every week,” Simms said Monday during media night, “and how we go about approaching it, how we go about getting Julio [Jones] the ball, how we go about getting people more open than I’ve ever seen in my life consistently throughout the season.
