Dri Archer signs with Jets

SAN FRANCISCO — The Jets on Wednesday signed former Steelers running back/wide receiver Dri Archer to a reserve/future contract.

The former third-round pick out of Kent State played in 20 games and had 23 kickoff returns for a 22.4-yard average during his two seasons in Pittsburgh. He also carried 10 times for 40 yards and had seven catches for 23 yards in 2014.

The 5-8, 173-pound Archer, who was waived by the Steelers last November, ran a 4.26 40-yard dash in the 2014 NFL Combine, second-fastest in the last 10 combines only to Chris Johnson’s 4.24 in 2008.
