FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — Chan Gailey doesn’t like the word mystery, not when it comes to Christian Hackenberg. But there may be a few other descriptors he’ll allow.
Teachable. Improving. And hey, even talented.
“I think he’s a developmental player at this point,” the Jets’ offensive coordinator said Thursday. “There’s a lot of talent there. The sky’s the limit, but we don’t know yet.”
That last part might, in fact, put Hackenberg in the mysterious category, but despite no playing time and a whole slew of scout team reps, Gailey said that he’s seen clear signs of maturation.
