With Morgan Moses off to New England, the New York Jets needed a placeholder right tackle before the NFL draft.
Their choice: Chukwuma Okorafor, whom they signed to a one-year, $1.34 million deal with $757.5K guaranteed. Okorafor was the only new tackle added by New York prior to the draft.
Ultimately, the Jets ended up drafting Armand Membou with the seventh overall pick, which should leave Okorafor in the backup swing tackle role.
Okorafor brings plenty of starting experience to the Jets’ second-string offensive line. A 2018 third-round pick of the Steelers, Okorafor started 59 of his 77 appearances across six seasons in Pittsburgh.
