Are Jets correctly developing Sam Darnold? Should they go after Le'Veon Bell? | Mailbag

Ira in Staten Island, via email: With Le'Veon Bell, you have to do your homework, and he is a great talent. But I just can't see putting all that money into a running back who will be 27 next year and has an attitude and baggage. Thoughts?

Trading for Bell would make zero sense for the Jets, as we mentioned here. Might as well wait until free agency next offseason. And then what? Yes, as you noted, Bell surely will command a lot of money. In addition to his off-field issues (two suspension in his NFL career) he has a lot of mileage on his body (1,541 career touches).
