The day after Jets owner Woody Johnson publicly trashed quarterback Justin Fields at the NFL owners meetings, head coach Aaron Glenn met with the press and did his best to calm the waters. It was contentious at times between Glenn and the beat, but Glenn wants to present the appearance that everyone in the organization is on the same page.
When Rich Cimini of ESPN New York asked Glenn about Johnson not wanting Fields to play quarterback, Glenn interrupted to ask Cimini exactly what Johnson said. Cimini (correctly) implied Johnson’s comments about Fields not being able to “complete a pass” were highly critical, leading Glenn to ask if Johnson had said explicitly that Fields won’t be playing or that he didn’t like the quarterback.
