Jets Free Agency News And Rumors Roundup: Ryan Fitzpatrick Hitting Open Market, Chris Ivory Gone?

NFL Free Agency starts on March 9th, and the next few days will feature several New York Jets rumors. While free agency doesn't officially start until Wednesday, Monday and Tuesday are "legal tampering" days. That means teams can discuss contracts with any player, although a deal can't be signed until Wednesday. With that in mind, here are a few of the more interesting rumors and news tidbits on the Jets.

Ryan Fitzpatrick Hitting The Open Market?
Fitzpatrick played a critical role for the Jets last season, helping the team nearly make the playoffs last year. Many assumed the Jets would re-sign Fitzpatrick this offseason, but there's a chance that might not happen.

Fitzpatrick is a journeyman veteran QB, but he played well last season and several teams could be interested in starting him if the Jets don't bring him back. Without Fitzpatrick, the Jets are down to Geno Smith and Bryce Petty at QB.

Chris Ivory Gone?
The Jets are tight on cap space this offseason, which means they could lose RB Chris Ivory this offseason. The New York Daily News reports that Ivory is likely a "goner" because a team will pay him more than the Jets can afford. Bilal Powell might be back, but he could leave as well.

According to the Daily News, Alfred Morris could be a replacement. He's coming off a rough season, but isn't far removed from success. He'd be a buy-low candidate.
