Several Jets related things have been reported today:

+ The Jets have re-signed place kicker Nick Folk, but he will face competition in training camp. The financial details of the deal are not currently available. Folk made 19 of 25 attempted field goals last season. His longest field goal on the season was 51 yards.

+ Free agent wide receiver Chaz Schilens will visit the Jets. He had 23 receptions for 271 yards last season, averaging 11.8 yards per reception. He had 7 touchdowns. The Jets are looking for a #2 receiver to stretch the field and replace most-likely-exiting Plaxico Burress. Schilens played for new wide receivers coach, Sanjay Lal, in Oakland.

+ Free agent outside linebacker Jamaal Westerman is reported to be visiting with the Dolphins today, while free agent safety Brodney Pool is reportedly visiting with the Cowboys.

+ The Jets released safety Gerald Alexander and wide receiver Michael Campbell.

+ Manish Meta at The Daily News is reporting that the Jets are interested in bringing back wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery. Cotchery had 16 receptions for 237 yards in a limited role for the Steelers last season. Previously,  Cotchery was a member of the Jets from 2004, when the Jets drafted him in the 4th round, through 2010, and asked to be released prior to the 2011 season. Cotchery supposedly felt unappreciated by the Jets, but after the New Year's meltdown, his name crept up in conversation about how he was a good player who quietly got his job done, and a great locker room guy. Should the  Jets and Cotchery work out a deal, Cotchery's familiarity with quarterback Mark Sanchez will come in handy, and the team could always use a great locker room guy.

If nothing else, Cotchery was really tough. Who doesn't remember this great catch...made after he pulled his groin?
