Jets Rumors: New York Shows Interest In Free Agent WR Cecil Shorts, Stevie Johnson Too?

The New York Jets are in the market for wide receivers this offseason, and they've already made their interest known to one of the top wideout targets left on the 2015 free agency market.

According to Dom Cosentino of NJ.com, the Jets are interested in former Jacksonville Jaguars receiver Cecil Shorts III.  Shorts spent his first four NFL seasons in Jacksonville, emerging as a credible starter with home-run potential before hitting free agency a couple days ago.

Another name to watch out for is former San Francisco 49ers reciever Stevie Johnson. Cut by the 49ers on Thursday, Johnson made a name for himself while playing under now-Jets offensive coordinator Chan Gailey with the Buffalo Bills. The Jets haven't shown interest in Johnson yet, but he's a potential fit with all things considered.

While the quarterback situation in New York is far from settled at this juncture, whoever takes the reins under center in 2015 could have a couple of solid new options to play with when the preseason opens in August.
