The New York Islanders wasted no time digging into special teams at training camp, and head coach Patrick Roy came away encouraged after Thursday’s session.
“I was very impressed,” Roy said. “We have new coaches — Bob Boughner and Ray Bennett have been doing a really nice job. It was great to see how receptive and excited the guys were. Doing this early lets us make adjustments before the season starts.”
Roy made clear he isn’t focused on designating a “top” power play unit just yet, instead stressing habits and execution.
