NHL News: Trades, signings begin; Panthers face the mileage challenge

Now that the Stanley Cup is awarded, the postseason trades have begun, starting with a guy who inadvertently helped Florida’s Cup cause.

Speaking of which, the back-to-back winners now are the subject of “dynasty” talk, but with them already going to three straight finals, and two international tournaments (4 Nations, next season’s Olympics) mixed in, that is coupled with the long-term mileage question.

A reminder that in addition to everything else the NHL’s last true dynasty faced, the 1980-1984 New York Islanders had their stars in two Canada Cup tournaments during that crazy run — the second one in 1984 awkwardly featuring stars of both teams that had just met in back-to-back Stanley Cup finals.
