New York Islanders HC Barry Trotz gets his day with the Stanley Cup

Lord Stanley was in tow for Barry Trotz’s return home, and with that the veteran of 19 seasons has finally done it all.

Throughout his career, Trotz spent 15 years with the Nashville Predators and three with the Washington Capitals Trotz had brought his team to the postseason 10 times, won the President’s Trophy (awarded to the league’s best team during the regular-season) twice, and won the Jack Adams awarded (awarded to the league’s best coach) in 2016.

The only thing his résumé was lacking was a Stanley Cup and entering his 19th season (fourth with the Capitals) on an expiring contract, expectations were low for Trotz’s team.
